This Isopropyl Alcohol Reagent Grade is primarily composed of 2-propanol, with the chemical formula C3H8O and CAS Registry Number 67-63-0. Produced via fractional distillation purification and subjected to rigorous quality control testing, this product meets the purity requirements for Analytical Reagent (AR) grade (≥99.5%). It is suitable for MTT colorimetric assays in in vitro cytotoxicity testing for biological evaluation of medical devices and as a background control solution for RhE skin irritation tests.

This product is a colorless, transparent, clear liquid with a characteristic volatile alcohol odor. It exhibits excellent water solubility and broad dissolving capability. As a key reagent in the MTT assay, isopropanol effectively dissolves intracellular purple formazan crystals—the reduced product of MTT—releasing them into solution to form a purple solution readable by a spectrophotometer. This allows for quantitative assessment of cellular metabolic activity and proliferation status by measuring absorbance at 570 nm.
