MEM Liquid Medium

Cytiva HyClone SH30024.01 MEM/EBSS Liquid Medium is a classic basal medium designed for mammalian cell culture, developed from Eagle's Minimum Essential Medium (MEM). Its optimized formula contains all essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids required to support cell growth and maintenance. Based on Eagle's Balanced Salt Solution (EBSS), this medium is supplemented with 2.0 mM L-glutamine and is suitable for routine culture of various adherent and suspension mammalian cells. Available in 500 mL liquid bottles; other package sizes can be ordered upon request.

This MEM/EBSS medium retains the complete nutrient profile of standard MEM for supporting cell growth while integrating the EBSS salt system to enhance ionic buffering. It contains 2.0 mM L-glutamine as a critical nitrogen source for cellular energy metabolism and protein synthesis. pH is adjusted via a sodium bicarbonate buffer system to an optimal range (approximately 7.2-7.4). All media undergo 100-nm sterile filtration to ensure sterility. This formulation is phenol red-free, enabling clear optical microscopy and related assays without color interference. Available in versions with or without L-glutamine; select the appropriate model based on your specific cell type and culture requirements.
