MTT Cell Proliferation and Cytotoxicity Assay Kit

The MTT assay is a method for detecting cell viability and proliferation. The MTT Cell Proliferation and Cytotoxicity Assay Kit is widely used to assess cell growth and toxicity. In this assay, succinate dehydrogenase in the mitochondria of viable cells reduces exogenous MTT to an insoluble blue-purple formazan product that accumulates within the cells; dead cells lack this enzymatic activity. In the presence of a specific solvent, the formazan can be fully dissolved, and absorbance is measured at approximately 570 nm using a microplate reader. Higher absorbance indicates greater cell proliferation, while lower absorbance reflects higher cytotoxicity.
