Solid polyurethane foam serves as a substitute test medium for cancellous bone. While it cannot replicate the structural complexity of human bone, it offers stable mechanical properties with parameters falling within the range of cancellous bone metrics. This closed-cell polyurethane foam is most commonly used to evaluate screw pull-out force, insertion torque, and stripping torque.
